ABOUT TOWN
EVENTS & PROMOTIONS

MONTECRISTO is proud to collaborate with various partners to reach Vancouver's most cultured urban dwellers and support local charities and corporate activities.

CHEFS FOR LIFE

On May 2, the 15th annual Chefs for Life fundraiser gathers Vancouver’s culinary community in support of the Vancouver Friends for Life Society. Hosted at the Fairmont Pacific Rim’s ORU restaurant, guests will enjoy a twelve-course dinner prepared by some of Vancouver’s most esteemed culinary talents. All funds raised at this prestigious event will benefit the Diamond Center for Living, Canada’s first comprehensive wellness centre offering over 60 free programs to over 1,500 patients living with terminal illnesses and their families. Guests will receive copies of MONTECRISTO’s Spring 2013 issue.

Bon Mot Book Club Vancouver

THE BON MOT BOOK CLUB

MONTECRISTO is proud to join with the Bon Mot Book Club in welcoming speaker Walter Isaacson, Steve Jobs' biographer, to a sold-out crowd at the Vancouver Club on April 22. Isaacson's authorized biography of the Apple co-founder has broken all international sales records and is based on over forty interviews with Jobs' friends, family, colleagues, and Jobs himself.

Covering timely topics on business, the economy, politics, science, and world affairs, the Bon Mot Book Club brings together some of the most influential speakers to share their ideas in an intimate and historic setting. Past series speakers have included Malcolm Gladwell, critically-acclaimed author of The Outliers and The Tipping Point; Dick Cheney, former Vice-President of the United States; John Micklethwait, Editor of The Economist; Ayaan Hirsi Ali, award-winning humanitarian, political figure and best-selling author; and others. Each guest will receive MONTECRISTO's Spring 2013 issue.

PALS GALA

The 2013 PALS Gala, presented by KPMG, was held at the Vancouver Convention Centre on March 2. This annual fundraiser benefits the PALS Autism School in British Columbia, the only specialized and dedicated elementary and secondary school in British Columbia for children with autism. The school also runs a program for adults with autism, which provides invaluable services to further develop social and practical life skills. Guests were entertained by the Kokoma African Heritage Ensemble and had the opportunity to support PALS' efforts through live and silent auctions. Guests received complimentary copies of MONTECRISTO.
